- The Assistant General Mine Manager will report to the General Mine Manager and will have responsibility for the management of the Underground Mine Site.
- The successful candidate must be willing to work in a remote location (camp operation) with shift rotation 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.
- The company provides air transportation from various points including Vancouver, British Columbia to the job site.

Duties
- Overall management responsibilities for a 1200 tpd underground mine and mill.
- Directly reporting to the successful candidate will be mine operations, mine engineering, geology, mill operations, maintenance, site administration, safety and environment.
- Responsible for the generation of the annual operating and capital budget. Monthly production reports, operational cost analysis reports and management information reports are required.
- Manage an industrial health and safety program that has the objective of a “zero lost time” accident policy through certified safety officers and emergency response technicians.
- Work effectively with the environmental department to ensure a strong and positive relationship with all government agencies.
- Coordinate the geology, mine engineering, mine and mill operations plus maintenance departments to maximize the grade of ore mined and achieve the best possible recoveries at targeted concentrate grades.
- Provide leadership for the human resources department such that clear administrative policies are in place and that they are effectively applied in a consistent manner.
- Supply management control for the purchasing and warehouse functions and assist in bidding, negotiating and awarding major supply and capital contracts.
- Communicate effectively with senior management in the head office keeping them informed of relevant and significant personnel and operational issues.
Requirements
- Graduate Engineer in Mining Operations with P. Eng Designation
- 15-20 years experience in mining operations
- A strong background in underground mining would be a major asset
- Candidates with an equivalent level of practical experience would also be considered
- Excellent knowledge of PROMINE Software is mandatory
- Superior oral and written communication skills, understanding the need for open and direct dialogue with staff and executives.
- Provide leadership for the human resources department such that clear administrative policies are in place and that they are effectively applied in a consistent manner.
