- This is an underground operation with shift rotation 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.
Duties
- Utilize and communicate your proven understanding of mining engineering, geological and geotechnical matters.
- Plan, supervise and direct all mine planning, ventilation, ground control engineering, surveying and administer the bonus system. Extremely close collaboration with the mine operations department is required.
- Provide technical support to mining operations such that mine performance is optimized while providing a framework for continuous operating improvement.
- Display commitment to coaching and mentoring a diverse team to accomplish desired outcomes.
- Examine maps, deposits and drilling locations to determine the location, size, accessibility, contents, value, and potential profitability of ore deposits.
- Prepare schedules, reports, and estimates of the costs involved in developing and operating mines.
- Monitor mine production rates to assess operational effectiveness.
- Design and monitor the development of mines, facilities, systems, or equipment.
- Select or develop mineral location, extraction, and production methods, based on factors such as safety, cost, and deposit characteristics.
- Enable the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
Requirements
- Graduate Engineer in Mining Operations with P. Eng Designation
- Minimum 5-10 years experience or equivalent technical experience in small/medium sized underground operations is necessary.
- Extensive knowledge of underground mining methods is required.
- A pillar extraction programme is in place and excellent rock mechanics experience and knowledge are required.
- Proficiency with Auto Cad and Mine Engineering Software (PROMINE) is required.
- Open pit and UG Bonus Systems experience would be an asset
